"Highlander-Datsuns are Forever" (jamesbowland)

Excellent family entertainment. One more episode to go until Armageddon . I might be biased as I love David Tennant and a sound track of Queen’s greatest hits doesn’t hurt either.

Great show! David Tennant is one of my favorite actors. He was my favorite Doctor too. Michael Sheen did really well in this series too.
That whole petition thing is stupid. I’m a fairly religious person, or I used to be, and I saw nothing wrong with it. If anything it made Satanism and Christianity both look bad when it comes to blindly following what an old book says.

I love the show, but I’m only about 3-4 episodes into it. I’m a Christian and can usually at least empathize with my fellow believers’ POVs, but this is a real stretch. It only takes a few mindless “petitioners” to make everyone look stupid, especially in the age of Internet slacktivism and hyperactive media coverage of every single little thing.
The show is total fantasy, even though it has a loosely Biblical basis. But it’s more like “Fantasy Bible fan fiction” than anything else. Lighten up, folks. Everyone has much bigger issues to tackle than this.

It’s almost as bad as a fan revolt every time they reboot the star trek universe.

I also liked the show, but it had really weird pacing. Both too fast and too slow somehow.

Started watching it last night after I saw that article about the Bible Brigade petitioning Netflix to remove it. Very funny show. Reminds me a bit of Dogma.

If anything, you’d think Christians, of all people, would be ok with “ Fantasy Bible fan fiction”.

I just finished it. The ending was fantastic.
As a practicing Catholic I noticed many places where I said “that’s not quite how that works”, but I didn’t let that get in the way of enjoying it thoroughly.
Lighten up folks. God has a sense of humor and so should we.

Loved it here as well, and I was pleasantly surprised how faithful (pun intended) it was to the book. They kept most scenes and jokes largely intact with the only major omission being the “other” four horsemen. Not a big loss there IMO since they were mostly just some mundane tag-alongs with amusing name selections
. The handful of small liberties they took (and the slightly larger one involving the scenes around the last prophecy the characters encounter) never felt inappropriate either. I’m thinking Terry Pratchett would have been proud of how this one turned out.

My pastor actually referenced that exact scene about a month ago, from the pulpit. Pretty epic move for a mainline preacher.
Then again, he has also managed to work Will Ferrell’s “I drive a Dodge Stratus!” into a sermon. That’s some obscure humor right there.

I’d say it’s worth checking out. You won’t get much more out of it plot-wise since the show covered it so well, but there’s a whole lot of narrative humor that they couldn’t fit in there to still be enjoyed, i.e.,
Along with the standard computer warranty agreement which said that if the machine 1) didn’t work, 2) didn’t do what the expensive advertisements said, 3) electrocuted the immediate neighborhood, 4) and in fact failed entirely to be inside the expensive box when you opened it, this was expressly, absolutely, implicitly and in no event the fault or responsibility of the manufacturer, that the purchaser should consider himself lucky to be allowed to give his money to the manufacturer, and that any attempt to treat what had just been paid for as the purchaser’s own property would result in the attentions of serious men with menacing briefcases and very thin watches. Crowley had been extremely impressed with the warranties offered by the computer industry, and had in fact sent a bundle Below to the department that drew up the Immortal Soul agreements, with a yellow memo form attached just saying: “Learn, guys...”

The only gripe I had was the scale of Crowley’s Bentley. It’s far too small. I’m guessing the CG guys decided the headlights were 7-inchers and scaled it from that. (Those road- locomotives used Lucas P100s, a 10-inch headlight.)
